At Egernsund Wienerberger we are continuously doing product development and in order to meet future needs for carbon emissions and sustainable building materials it is necessary, that we rethink the brick as we know it today.
One of the roads we have taken is looking at dematerialization of the Danish waterstruck brick. By removing raw material, we are able to save energy in both the firing and the drying process resulting in substantial savings in CO2-emissions. Furthermore the brick becomes lighter and easier to handle on the jobsite resulting in less kg to lift for the masons.
Our newest development is called LESS, which is a perforated waterstruck brick removing 15% raw material. The brick is produced using certified non-fossil biogas resulting in CO2-savings around 85% in production of the brick. These ecofriendly benefits are obtained without changing the original and loved aesthetics or performance of the waterstuck brick. The LESS range comes in 42 different colors with full documentation in the form of product specific EPD’s.
